Unique little knitting project

I was walking across this Steiner-Geary bridge

and came upon these

A bunch of poles had knitting on them. Pole warmers? Maybe a knitting club taught circular knitting here? I have no idea why they are there, but they seemed sweet in a way, kinda cute.

A random little surprise :)

Presidio: a total slice of heaven, until...

Today Myko and I trekked over to the Presidio national park. I'd never been to this part of the park, and it was incredible! Beautiful!

Old military housing:

Walking down a path called Lover's Lane. Ahhhh, sights, sounds, wonderful smells of nature! Birds chirping, the trees smelled like H-E-A-V-E-N (eucalyptus?)

La la la, so wonderful. LOVING IT. And then we saw this............

Remember Jessica Simpson's poor little Maltipoo, Daisy? :(
It's all fun and games until you see a coyote alert.
aaaand, it's time to go.
Well, it was magnificent while it lasted. We'll be back.

Weekend fun! Film & Fests

Had such a fun weekend! No health issues getting in the way-YAY!!
Started on Thursday night, Got to see Inception (pre-ordered the tickets almost 2 weeks prior!) Loved that movie! I know some people complained that it was too complicated, but to me it was just enough. And the cast was fantastic! Leo was amazingly Oscar worthy (underrated as an actor!!), and Marion Cotillard was mesmerizing/tantalizing/all-izing. I hope Leo finally gets his Oscar for this one. Did anyone else see it, yet?

"Inception" Press Conference

All fab!!:

Premiere Of Warner Bros. "Inception" - Arrivals

Then we went to Sheba Lounge for drinks and a late dinner. My favorite place for bar food-delicious Ethiopian food!

Friday afternoon was a random good mishmash, from Lifetime movies to Texas Hold Em silliness. You know who you are... *Shout Out honeychild*

It was also mini-festival weekend on Fillmore Street, first with a Salsa Festival on Saturday. They taught lessons first and all the couples were sooo cute.

Then the pro dancers came out and they were incredible (too dark for pics)

Yesterday was the Aloha Fillmore Fest. On the poster is said to dress for Hawaii, which was funny since it was about 55 degrees out, but that didn't stop the hula dancers from bringing it.

And they had pork and Spam dishes. I know a guy who grew up in Hawaii who talks about Spam a lot, so maybe it's a Hawaiian thing? Ha, not sure about that.

Have a good week!!

Fillmore Jazz Festival 2010 #FJF

The Fillmore Jazz Festival is the largest free jazz festival on the west coast. Every year over 90, 000 people attend. I'm lucky enough to live just around the corner, so I get to experience a lot of it.
Setup began Saturday morning. (I love behind the scenes)
for Eddy Street stage:

setting up the "lawns"

Making a swing dance floor

warming up

DJ's by SwingChampionships.com in full swing

Unknown group outside Marcus Books:

Consonance preaching jazz at Eddy St stage on Sunday morning

Sutter St stage

Crowd watching Eddy Gil (Eddy St stage)

The "lawn" spills onto the sidewalk with wall-to-wall people for Bayonics w/ Big Brooklyn Red (Eddy St stage) to end the festival.

Packing it in...til next year...

Seriously, an amazing musical 4th of July weekend!
Happy 4th!

Street Fare #FJF

The Fillmore Jazz Festival is this weekend, and with that comes a great street fair with lots of art and other goodies to behold. My favorite street fair of the summer. Such a fun time!

What'a street fair without a bouncy castle and teacup ride?

And of course food (+ drinks), lots of food!

Heading back for day 2 today :)

Art Shout Out

My dad painted many, many paintings during his life. Unfortunately, his ex-girlfriend kept most of them when he died, but I am lucky enough to have a few that I treasure and have displayed around my apartment. (phone pics b/c I'm still missing my camera usb cord)

4 Winds (30x24)

Untitled (28x22)

Untitled (60x50)

Gives you an idea of scale...

Untitled (24x36)

He had an very tough life and was not without his flaws, but my dad always did whatever he could for me, and he was a shining example of how you always plow through no matter what. Nobody has ever understood me like he did. I blame/celebrate all my eccentricities because of his genetics ;) Love forever, Daddio F.
Happy Father's day to all the great dads out there!

Left with these for a friend's son:

It was a good day.

Doggie treats for my b-day boy

It's Myko's 6th birthday today, so I thought I'd try making my own doggie treats. I went with peanut butter 'nilla biscuits, from Yummy For Dogs yummyfordogs.org/cookbook/biscuits/pb_nilla

They were so easy to make, and he loves them!

I think he'd had enough of the bow

We went on an extra long walk and he's been passed out ever since

Quite the eventful day, lol.

Spinach artichoke dip and an obstacle course?

This is what the doctor meant when she said to eat more leafy greens, right? I got this recipe from maplespice.com and it's dairy-free and delicious. Obviously would be great with real cheese as well. So good!
There is a new structure in the dog area at my apartment complex and I'm not sure what it is. A dog tunnel, maybe? Myko sniffed but didn't go in. For owning a dog, I really don't know much about dog stuff, lol. Has anyone seen something like this before?
